Rio 2, A fun-filled Amazon adventure - Movie Review

Being a kid at heart needs an animation fix every now and then, Fox Animation studios - makers of Ice Age bring back another summer delight called "Rio 2". It's the sequel to first Rio Movie but when the location (Rio de Janeiro) was not enough, this time its the Amazon! Blu and family gets on a adventure that will change their lives.

Rio 2's story revolves on rare blue macaw birds Blu (Jesse Eisenberg) and Jewel (Anne Hathaway) that are happily living with their three teenage chicks in Rio de Janeiro. After seeing a clip of the news of other blue macaws and sensing the kids – Bia, Carla and Tiago - are growing a touch too used to human conveniences (namely iPods and pancakes), Jewel decides a family trip to the Amazon to get some wind beneath the family’s wings and, hopefully, find the rest of their flock.

The animation is very smooth and much of Rio de Janeiro and feels like your partying in the streets itself under those 3D glasses. Vibrant and colorful -The city’s gilded vibrance and appetite for fun were captured beautifully in Rio 2. Well that was the fun part, Rio is really defined as an all-out party venue but when we get to the Amazon part everything went a bit lay-low. (Of course wild animals comes in to entertain too).

You'll be surprised of Nigel and Gabi as they make some amazing moments with Broadway or should I say operatic hip-hop. Gabi played by Kristin Chenoweth will make you not just giggle, this pink frog is a DIVA!

Bruno Mars is a bird!! Say what? A singing bird that we could not resist here. The guy can work as a voice actor every now and then! He plays a cheesy bird heartthrob Roberto, who ruffles Blu’s feathers as he makes some not-so-subtle moves on Jewel. Kudos to his performance, never new he could pull this off.

Rio 2 is a brightly coloured visual spectacle with an amazing soundtrack. They should rename it as Riomazon! LOL

Our verdict of Rio 2 - It's a fun, summer amazon adventure flick, Rio 2 will keep you entertained and captivated with its catchy musical numbers and quirky characters.

“Rio 2” opens April 9 in more than 200 screens nationwide from 20th Century Fox to be distributed by Warner Bros.
